Is orgasm on your to-do list?

Right now, I am in a huge period of reinvention.
Perhaps you are too.
Actually, I think there is a way that women are always in the process of creating, shedding, and then remaking our lives.
And there is a powerful secret that I want to share with you about how I get it all done, make it happen, and have a deep, beautiful, sweet, sexy, connected time in the process.

I put orgasm on my to-do list.

It is always the first thing. And then it shows up again and again.
Why?
Here is the magic formula: pleasure is an essential nutrient that you need, every single day, to stay healthy and remain balanced on the inner and the outer.

When was the last time you really took the time to feel pleasure?

I know, I know, you are way too busy. There is always too much to do and too many demands. Not to mention we have all been raised to think ‘no pain, no gain’ – so we reach for pain, stress, and overwork with both hands, as if that will bring us pleasure. It won’t. In truth, it will create high levels of cortisol in the body, which leads to more suffering. The higher our stress hormones, the more we engage in numbing behaviors like overeating or substance abuse in an attempt to take the edge off our suffering. This is a patriarchal cycle. And as women become more and more masculine, adopting the presiding culture in order to succeed in our lives, we cut down on our emotions and cut down on our ability to feel orgasm.

Orgasm is a physical metaphor for how pleasure works, both in our body and in our lives. Choosing orgasm means that you are choosing yourself – even if just for a few moments. When you choose orgasm, you are choosing to approve of yourself and surrender to pleasure. You can’t experience orgasm by willing it to happen. You have to get out of your head and into your body. And guess what?

You were born for this. You were built for pleasure.

We each have 8,000 nerve endings dedicated to ecstasy. The only purpose of the clitoris is to produce pleasure in the body. If we are not experiencing pleasure, then we are not living the design of what it means to be a woman.

As Dr. Christiane Northrup says, “Orgasm is how the body resets its electromagnetic grid and maintains vibrant health and pleasure. In order to feel joy and pleasure daily, our brains need a constant supply of beta endorphin, that morphine-like, feel-good chemical. Because nitric oxide is the uber neurotransmitter that is responsible for all the other feel-good neurotransmitters like beta endorphin, you need to follow a pleasure-enhancing lifestyle that keeps your nitric oxide levels high. If you don’t get pleasure deliberately and healthfully, your body will get its beta endorphin through drugs, alcohol, or sugar.”

There are many ways to get that shot of beta endorphin, serotonin, and dopamine that our bodies need. You can go to the gym and have an intense sweaty workout. You can meditate. Dance your ass off. Laugh, cry, or rejoice with girlfriends. Volunteer for a cause you love. And of course, orgasm.

Yes, regular orgasm is on my to-do list because it increases nitric oxide and beta endorphin. It will enhance your mood, act as a natural painkiller, and is the antidote to stress-inducing cortisol, which lowers your stress.

And here’s the thing: you don’t have to be good at it. And it still works.

You don’t even have to have experienced orgasm, ever, to begin this journey of being able to shift your internal chemistry. Anyone who plays any instrument knows that all it takes to get to Carnegie Hall is practice, practice, practice.

You were built for this.
I was built for this.
It’s time to put the key in our own ignition, turn ourselves on, and take advantage of the privilege of having been born a woman. We will improve everything about the quality of our lives in the process.

We can each begin to reconnect with the ultimate power source, our orgasm, which puts us back in touch with our own essential life force.

OUR power is ours to claim.
