The most powerful workshop I have ever done

Art changes lives, changes cultures, and is capable of connecting us to both our mortality and immortality.

Tom Slater is one of those rare artistic facilitators who has created a body of work that is truly world-shifting.

Through his own journey of healing – reclaiming his aliveness after an abusive childhood and years of addiction and depression – Tom unearthed powerful processes that now form the foundation of his signature retreats.

He is, hands down, one of the most powerful leaders and teachers on the planet – a man who liberates and ignites the full spectrum of humanity in every workshop he leads.

His program is called
Sapience, and it was, without a doubt, the most gorgeous, transformative, deep, wide, holy, and whole workshop I have ever taken.

The purpose of this work is to feel more alive, more connected to the people in your life, and more authentically yourself. Having experienced it first-hand, I believe it’s the most cutting-edge program for anyone ready to shed old armor and meet life from an unguarded, fully embodied place.

Picture this: A room full of beautiful, broken, wise, accomplished, scared, strong, courageous humans (just like you and me), given the chance to interact in a way that heals, forwards and backwards in time.

It’s a cross between improv, IFS Therapy, Ken Wilbur’s Integral Theory, play, time travel, Greek Theatre, poetry, and the freedom of the playground that you might have missed as a kid.

So many of us had childhoods that left us wounded.

While therapy is amazing and so deeply needed, there was a part of me that was still bleeding and I did not know how, or even if, I could address this invisible hurt inside of me.

In this workshop, I spent three full days in something called “Beige.” It was me as a baby – curled in a ball, clutching a teddy bear, blanketed on a pile of pillows, weeping. One hand held a facilitator’s. The other held every ache I never got to feel the first time around.

I had the luxury of coming undone in ways I’d never experienced in my actual infancy, due to the domestic violence in my home. But here, in this container, I was able to heal pre-verbal trauma. In real time. In real relationship.

There are places inside each of us – tender, angry, raw – that we’ve been taught to hide. Places we’ve been told are too much, too messy, too dangerous to share.

But the truth is, those places? When witnessed? Become a kind of medicine. Not just for you, but for anyone privileged enough to hold them with you.

Thanks to Tom’s guidance, I got to play in my full range, alongside a group of creative, outrageous, deeply alive humans.

And perhaps most potently: I got to “kill” the biggest, most powerful man in the course (fully grounded and supported by facilitators, of course). As someone who lived with violence from the time I was a baby, this was monumental. I got to reclaim my power. I got to feel what strength and sovereignty are like in my body. I got to protect myself – and take a stand for the little girl who never had the chance to before.

The impact and imprint of this moment will live with me forever.

There are some wounds that can’t be touched alone in a therapist’s office. Or in a container where a teacher or coach is solely focused on you. Sometimes, those settings – even when well-intentioned – just create more places to hide.

Despite achieving enormous success in my career, there was still relational PTSD living inside me. I was terrified of how much self-hatred I carried. How needy I felt. The magnitude of unprocessed grief that was hiding in plain sight.

We live in a culture that demands proof of our healing, our wholeness, our upward arc. But Sapience doesn’t require a performance. It welcomes the unhealed. Honors the messy. Celebrates the sacred humanity in all of it.

Because real healing? Happens in relationship. In community. In connection.

Imagine a world where we were taught to hold one another instead of hurt one another. Where we were trained to heal one another – simply by being who we are, together.

We are each infinite, magical, multi-dimensional beings, worthy of exploration, worthy of experiencing the fullness of ourselves in this lifetime.

Tom Slater helped me feel more and more of my own magic.

His work is unlike anything else I’ve encountered. It is the most transformative program I have ever experienced and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

With so much love and pleasure,
Regena

P.S. I never thought I’d get to be the baby who wept and was held. Or the woman strong enough to fight back. But this work gave me both. If there’s a version of you still longing to be met – exactly as you are – Sapience might just be the place. 👉 Learn more about it here.
